Description
This stunning marked natural Queensland boulder opal is set in platinum and surrounded by diamonds. The oval cabochon-cut opal measures 28.00 mm x 18.75 mm (5.84 mm depth) and weighs approximately 16.34 carats. Surrounding the opal are thirty-two round full-cut diamonds, each weighing approximately 0.04 carats for an approximate total diamond weight of 1.36 carats. These high quality diamonds have a clarity grade of VS1 to VS2 and a color grade of G.
What makes this large opal particularly striking is the play of color phenomenon on beautiful display. Play of color occurs when light waves travel between the sub-microscopic spheres within the opal. As the waves bend, they break into the colors of the rainbow, reminiscent of a kaleidoscope. The play of color pattern in this particular opal is called Floral Harlequin and displays green, blue, red, fuchsia, orange and yellow.
This ring has a total weight of 16.10 grams and comes in a quality ring box. It is currently a size 5, but can be sized larger or smaller.
